Dr. Ryan Trottier

Dr. Ryan Trottier was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He received his undergraduate degree in Honours Kinesiology with a minor in Human Nutrition from the University of Waterloo. After working as a Kinesiologist in Toronto, he returned to the University of Waterloo to complete his Doctorate of Optometry and graduated on the Dean’s Honour List.


Through the course of his studies, Dr. Trottier had exposure to multiple specialty clinics, including binocular vision, electrodiagnostics, low vision, pediatrics, and specialty contact lenses. He completed his clinical rotations in Fort Frances, Kelowna, and at a glaucoma-focused clinic in Salt Lake City, where he had the chance to work alongside retinal, glaucoma, and oculoplastic surgeons. Additionally, he was selected for an internship at a laser eye surgery center in Toronto and had volunteered with the iCare International program to provide eye care to underserved communities in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.


Dr. Trottier had the pleasure of working and providing community lectures on ocular disease and the aging eye on Vancouver Island in the past. As a clinician, he holds a particular interest in dry eye therapy, specialty contact lens fitting, and more recently, vision therapy.
